Super Sunday it most certainly was at Uttoxeter with Mark Boothright’s Back On The Lash toughing it out to win his second chase under a great ride from Sean Bowen. Lash never knows when he is beaten and, although there were only two other rivals, they were both competitive and he had to give a penalty away to them both. He’s not overly big either but what he lacks in size he makes up for in resolve and tenacity. He pricked his ears over the last and wasn’t going to be passed up the run in.
There was no smile larger than Beth Whittle’s after the race as she looks after Lash and rides him out and generally talks about nothing else! Thanks so much to Nigel Kirby for his brilliant photos.
Mozzaro found a culmination of the quicker ground and slow early pace didn’t suit him one bit. He didn’t jump as well as he can either, not respecting the hurdles. He’s still a big baby, as I’ve said before, and has been on the go a long time so will have a good summer break. Fences are his game I’m sure of it.
Great to see Yard Sponsor Neil Lloyd here this morning on his rather impressive motorbike! I even made him a cup of tea which apparently I’ve never done before!!!
A Team BBQ later today whilst the weather seems great and a well deserved celebration of a great start to the season – 3 winners and 10 seconds – nearly 50% of our runners filling those first two places and currently in the top 20 Trainers in the Country. Now the hard part of staying there! However, for now, we’ll keep doing what we are doing and thanks to all my team for their hard work. The fizz, thanks to Mark Boothright and Back On The Lash, will go down very well tonight!
