Spanish Present is our 39th winner of the season!

I was thrilled to watch David Maughan’s new acquisition Spanish Present win in good style at Market Rasen yesterday under Brian Hughes ensuring his 100% strike rate for us remains intact – 2 wins from 2 rides. Gerry Hogan found Spanish Present for David and he’s done nothing but please us since he arrived from Ireland a month ago. We are so fortunate to have Gerry sourcing horses for us – he knows the type we do well with and has hardly found us a horse which we haven’t won with – he’s also sourced the majority of our Cheltenham winners. Cheers Gerry!

Brian gave him a super ride and he was very professional throughout. This morning he trotted up sound and then showed us that yesterday took nothing out of him as he turned himself inside out when turned out in his paddock for the day! Winner number 39 of our record breaking season.

James Best and Finn Lambert were both in this morning and we schooled Duke of Luckley and Herecomeshogan 1st lot. 2nd lot everything cantered apart from Back On The Lash, Love of Neymore, Ten Past Midnight, Kalibrate and Blazing Court who all went around the Fun Ride. Matt Capp was in to watch Dreamsundermyfeet canter. He’s not been back in from his winter holiday long but seems to be pleased to be back in and is in good form.

Freddie is having a fun few days during his half term break and has been in riding out for Richard Spencer in Newmarket this morning which he loved cantering up the Long Hill with his string. He then had a day at The British Racing School qualifying to go pony racing on a pony that Richard Cook is kindly letting him borrow for a couple of races. He’s riding out for Richard again tomorrow and then he’s back home but it sounds like they are having a ball.
