Mr Mafia WINS again!

Another fabulous day yesterday, this time at Worcester, with Mr Mafia once again winning in good style under Harry Stock for John Abernethy and Peter Boggis. Until three weeks ago John Abernethy had owned horses for 47 years and not had a winner. Mr Mafia put that right at Stratford on his debut for our yard and he followed up again yesterday, this time in Peter Boggis’ colours, and it was another fabulous win and more tears of joy!

What a star he has already been for the team. A real favourite and one of my youngest son Harry’s favourite too (along with another newcomer Reve) and thrilled for two really special owners too.

He had a hero’s welcome back at the yard as Racing Uk’s Alex Steedman and partner Hannah Ashton, one of Mafia’s physios, called in so were thrilled to welcome Ash and Mafia back off the lorry with Freddie & Harry delighted to see them too.

Belinda and I are off to Goffs in Ireland early this morning with Chairman Jon Hughes and his wife Jack. A fun couple of days ahead and looking for our next new superstar. Meeting up with Gerry Hogan, our bloodstock agent, and having supper tonight with Gerry, wife Ciara and PJ Colville, who looks after all our Irish horses and does a fabulous job in pre-training too. And yes, it’s my birthday! Not a great one for birthdays but a fun two days ahead in Ireland with some lovely people. Do get in touch if you are interested in having one with us – I’m just a phone call away.
