Martin’s last blog of 2017

Three runners today and it is a day for the girls as they are all mares. In the first at Warwick the Martin Keighley Racing Club’s Ask Alice runs in the same race as Oscar World and whilst I don’t like running them against each other, there weren’t many options so that’s how it has worked out.

Ask Alice (Conor Shoemark) is the outsider of the field and obviously needs to improve upon her two previous runs and the ground is an unknown for her too. Oscar World (Tom Bellamy) ran two solid races for us in bumpers without winning and makes her hurdling debut today. I’m hoping she won’t mind the very soft ground as she encountered it pretty soft at Wetherby last time so I’m hopeful of a big run from her.

I’ll then be rushing off to Uttoxeter to saddle HRH The Princess Royal’s Chequered View who runs in the bumper under Harry Stock. She’s in great form and has run two decent races in bumpers so far but is up against a very nice mare of David Pipe’s that I liked at Cheltenham’s November Sale but it’s £175,000 price tag was way beyond our pocket!

Hoping the girls can run well and finish the year off well.

See you in 2018! With Cheltenham tomorrow we will go through 2017 in more detail in the next few days.
