An early start to Ludlow as the first race is 12.15pm so the team of Richard & Jasmin left before 1st lot with Sarasota Star and Capricia. I’m heading to Ludlow earlier than usual as I need to have a really good walk around the course to see if I run Sarasota Star. Ludlow’s Clerk of the Course Simon Sherwood has given the hurdles course as Good and he’ll run as long as there isn’t any good to firm places.
Sarasota Star was picked up reasonably in Ireland by Gerry Hogan as a last lot in Goffs Sale, October 2017 and subsequently purchased by Jon Hughes & Torben Dal. He hasn’t won on the flat but has run well and we like him. We’ve schooled him lots and he seems to love his jumping so we hope he has an enjoyable debut and think he could run really well today. James Best has been in regularly to ride out and has ridden him at home so he takes the ride.
Capricia has been given plenty of time since we bought her from Goffs Ireland as a 3 year old in June 2018. She’s a nicely bred filly and will hopefully run an encouraging race as she does things nicely at home. It will be our new Conditional Jockey, Patrick Cowley’s first ride for us.
