What does Samtara need to do to win a race?! Patrick Cowley did nothing wrong, kicked for home turning in as he does stay further than yesterday’s trip and was still a length clear over the last only to be worn down approaching the line. The Racing Post stated that he: “looked about to collect an overdue first win …this was a good effort but he has now been beaten off this mark on his last four starts”. I fear the Handicapper, however, won’t relent and may even put him up again. So frustrating as he is so genuine, his owners Roger & Yvonne Allsop are such fantastic supporters of our sport and Jasmin, who rides him at home, has worked so hard on him – they all deserve to be rewarded with a win. Next time?

Worcester were kind enough to give the Allsop’s a bottle of champagne for 2nd place so we shared that and it was good to catch up with them both.

Belinda Filmer-Bowen was here yesterday with Gary & Cindy, her friends from Canada, to see Herecomeshogan and for Gary & Cindy to meet us. Before now we’ve shared an interest during Lockdown in singer Andrew James’ Stay Sane Sessions that he shared on Facebook twice a week doing all he could to help ‘keep us all sane’. They love Andrew’s music as much as we do and it was fabulous to eventually put faces to names. Belinda said they had a very special morning here and it’s feedback like that which makes us so proud of our team and all we all do here. We enjoy having visitors so do get in touch to come and visit … who knows, you may even walk away with a share in a horse!

No runners today and Witness Protection swerves Chepstow tomorrow to run in a rather warm Novice Chase at Newton Abbot on Sunday. Tonight, we head to celebrate a brilliant season with Witness Protection’s syndicate and all the other Foxtrot Racing Syndicates, at their annual shindig. Should be a fun night.
