Lerichi Belle ran another solid race yesterday to finish 2nd under a nice ride from Conditional Jockey James Nixon. She settled well despite the steady early pace, jumped well but just bumped into one that had been gambled on all day so was expected to win. Pleased with her and she is fine this morning. Sadly John Carlisle felt the need to send us a pretty vile email about her which was totally unnecessary but unfortunately occasionally what us Trainers have to put up with now. Unsurprisingly he didn’t reply to our reply!
Madame Fiona hasn’t been the most straight forward but clearly has an engine as her two 2nds have shown however Ash always goes to the start with her and we haven’t had a problem. Yesterday however I was very frustrated. Unfortunately the Starter let them go when she clearly wasn’t going forward and I felt that she wasn’t given the opportunity to start the race. Disappointing for all especially her owner/breeders who still have the costs of transport, jockey etc but with no chance of prize money. I spoke to the Stewards but it was too late by then.
Today Twentyoneblackjack runs in the Bumper at Bangor. He won’t want any more rain but is a nice horse and is in good form so I’m hopeful of a competitive run.
This morning we schooled Cottersrock, Dr Dunraven, Brass Monkey, Ocean Eleven, Sporty Yankee and they all jumped well.
