Belinda and I had a great time up at Aintree on Thursday and it was good to catch up with so many friends and witness some superb racing too. Well done to Lizzie Kelly who won her 2nd Grade 1 race on Tea for Two winning the Betway Bowl – Lizzie rides out here and has ridden a few for us so it was good to see her have a great win.
Whatalove ran yesterday at Kempton Park and although looked the winner when turning for home, she was caught up the run in and faded tamely. She’s better than that and Tom Queally thought she was a bit flat so she’s been turned out in the field today for a couple of weeks for a nice break. She’s had a busy time and won’t lose much fitness and will enjoy the spring grass.
No runners today but a busy morning with a fun group who were the winning bidders at Chris Coley’s IJF Quiz before Christmas. Great to meet them all and they picked a superb morning – glorious here today! They enjoyed a Champagne Breakfast afterwards in our lovely Owners’ Room and Mark Holland was here too watching his Ballymountain Boy and it was great to catch up with Mark.
Belinda worked Bally this morning and worked with Warren on Cup of Ambition. Warren’s her official Jockey Coach for her Charity Race in June and he was giving her plenty of advice today which all helps. People have been so generous and so her fundraising is going well with her total nearing £7000! If you’ve not yet sponsored her and wish to then please get in touch or sponsor her online www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Belinda-Keighley2017
We also worked Any Currency, Dr Dunraven, Overbury mare, Johnny Og, Brillare Momento, Solstice Star, Forecast, Somewhere To Be, Young Phoenix, Robin Des Pres Gelding, Multiplex youngster, Fairmount. We are delighted with how our Lawman 2 year old Colt has settled in and were pleased to hear from his vendor about him. There are five out of the six shares available at £6000 each – do get in touch to come and watch him.
Freddie was back in action this morning on Arthur – thanks to everyone for their kind messages following his fall last weekend. His Grand National choice is One for Arthur! Good luck to all.
Tomorrow Belinda, Jamie & Issy are racing Camels at Andoversford Point to Point. Pony Racing kicks off proceedings at 12 noon, they race at 1pm and the first point to point is 2pm. We look forward to seeing owners and friends there – come and visit us afterwards as we’ll have a picnic and drinks at the car – hopefully Belinda, Jamie & Issy won’t need too much to drink afterwards!!! A fun day in prospect.
