Martin’s Blog 7th May

John & Claire Abernethy were in this morning to see their horse, Capital Force, who ran so well at Cheltenham last month, work on the gallops. He will probably head to Ludlow on Sunday over fences.

We also worked World War, Enforcement, Oscar World, Debden Bank, Be Thankful, Lord Condi, Fairmount, Bobble Emerald, Gold Mountain, Raving Bonkers & Matravers.

We had a visit from James Richardson at evening stables yesterday and he was pleased with Be Thankful, who his family have leased to us for the summer. Afterwards we took our catch-up to the Coach & Horses in Longborough – where we always get a good welcome from landlords Joe & Wendy McDonagh.

Exeter bound today and fantastic to have Mr Mafia back on the track after his winter break whilst the ground was too soft. He went back to his owners’ Peter & Jane Boggis and returned to us looking a picture having had plenty of extra physio and pre-training with them. He’s such a favourite in the yard and Jasmin, who looks after him, adores him. He’s in a competitive hurdle today and the Handicapper had to be tough enough on him last year whilst on his winning spree of 4 races but he’s in good form and will hopefully run well. Harry Stock, his usual jockey, rides.

We then run HRH The Princess Royal’s Cloud Formation in the bumper. He was much too keen for the first part of his debut run at Plumpton and was never going to be able to be competitive at the business end so we are hoping for a better run today and for him to hopefully settle. Aidan Coleman rides.

We currently have a 100% strike rate for the season following Forecast’s win on Saturday so no pressure….!!
