Issy thoroughly enjoyed her ride in the Charity race at Newbury last night on Jazzy. They finished 5th and the smile on her face coming back in said it all. Well done to her and thanks to Newbury for putting the race on, we all had a lovely evening.
This morning Henry Morshead was in to ride out before he starts for Paul Nicholl’s on Monday. The horses all did one or two canters and then were turned straight out after they were ridden and will come in a bit earlier as it gets too hot for them after lunch at the moment and they’d rather be in their cool stables.
Today is Kieran O’Hare’s big day at Doncaster. He’s worked for us for a couple of years and makes his race riding debut in their Charity race, all part of this weeks’ Racing Staff Week. I’m delighted that we’ve managed to put forward a member of our team for two of the three races and last night we were the only jumps trainer represented.
Kieran rides The Kvilleken for our Martin Keighley Racing Club and he will probably be up against it over 7 furlongs on the flat but he works well at home and it will be something different for him so won’t do him any harm and he should give Kieran a good ride. He may well have to push him from early on though so hopefully he’s done plenty of running and fitness work on the mechanical horse as that’s when it will pay off. Good luck to him and I hope whatever happens he thoroughly enjoys himself. He’s got plenty of supporters going up to cheer him on!
Hannah Ashton was in this morning to massage and treat some of the horses.
