A glorious morning to welcome Jenny Cheshire, Maureen Atkins and lots of Members from Worcester Racecourse. Not too hot but the sunshine showed our yard and facilities in their best light and it was fabulous to get comments such as ‘the tidiest yard they’ve been on’ and ‘what a lovely happy team’. Fantastic to see the work that our team put in recognised and the team, led by Matthew ‘Foxy’ Carter, seem to thoroughly enjoy themselves too which no doubt rubs off on the horses.
Work morning and Warren Marston & Abi Stock in to ride out. We worked Buckle Street, Primogeniture, Somewhere To Be, Dr Dunraven, Forecast, Enforcement, Miss Antipova, Mister Valentine, Cul De Poule, Brillare Momento, Oscar World, City Never Sleeps, Hartshorne Abbie and Raving Bonkers. The youngsters that have joined us in the last week are all settling in well and it’s such an exciting time.
One runner tonight on the flat at Nottingham. Bay Dude is reunited with George Wood, who rode him on his racecourse debut, and he’ll find life easier after this third run when he has a handicap mark. He is learning to settle and has a good attitude.
Maggie Turner, one of our physios, was in this morning as was our farrier Nick Partridge. Nick came out to Mr Mafia at 8pm on Sunday night after he lost a shoe in the field – such dedication from the professionals that we have here is worth so much and we couldn’t keep the horses in top form without the likes of Maggie & Nick supporting us so well.
