Martin’s Blog 6th October

An entertaining evening yesterday as Warren Marston, Jon Hughes and myself were guests of Jo Stainer at The Belfry Sporting Club Dinner with guest speaker, one of the greatest left-handed Batsmen in Test Cricket – David Gower followed by the Scouse Comedian/Impressionist Les Gibson. Hugely entertaining although quite a late one!

Up bright and early this morning though and we worked plenty on the grass. Andrew Tinkler, Warren Marston, Tom Bellamy and Mark Caswell in to ride out and I even did the school run after 1st lot for Belinda so that she could ride work on Buckle Street! We also worked Brillare Momento, Ballymountain Boy, Cup of Ambition, Ocean Eleven, Miss Condi, Whatalove, Oscar World, Somewhere To Be, Raving Bonkers, Fairmount, Weyburn, Madame Fiona, Viking Mistress and My Lad Percy. Owner Richard Davies was in to watch his Native Ruler youngster swing up the grass upsides Pomme De Nuit and both pleased me.

Mid morning Chris Stock and his team from Typecraft Print Solutions met with Belinda and Jon Hughes to discuss our marketing requirements and a very good meeting by all accounts.

Ollie Garner has re-stocked us with Natural Flake Shavings from his RSN Services Team who look after us so well. We’ve just not been able to find enough good straw around this time and are delighted with these shavings. Ollie also supplies us with our top quality haylage too.

Freddie & Harry have a sleepover tonight at Jackdaws Castle so they are very exciting and the house will be very quiet! Hopefully it will be fine as I think there are 9 children sleeping in a huge tent in Guy & Sophie Upton’s garden as it’s their eldest son Richard’s birthday party. They will be hoping that a big bike ride around the Jackdaws Estate this evening will have tired the children out! Good luck to them!
