Martin’s Blog 6th May

A busy morning yesterday with Peter Boggis and John & Claire Abernethy in to watch the horses work. Conor Shoemark and Harry Stock were also in but no Andrew Tinkler as he has been in Las Vegas on his Stag few days ahead of his wedding to Sophie Cotton in August. No Warren Marston either as he too was in Las Vegas!

Belinda enjoyed a day at Badminton Horse Trials and reported the cross country course to be big and full of angles and plenty of questions. Great to see local rider Jonty Evans in 2nd place after dressage. Good luck to all today on the cross-country.

Last night was Cheltenham Hunter Chase evening changed from it’s annual Wednesday evening to a Friday for the first time and a great success I believe. Plenty of local winners too which is always great.

Lizzie Kelly, John Nicholson, Lee-Ann Imboden and Alfie Martindale all in to ride out which is always a help on a Saturday especially with two runners. Those two runners are Somewhere To Be and Thady Quil and both run at Uttoxeter. Aidan Coleman partners Zara Tindall’s Somewhere To Be who is sound again after having to be pulled out earlier in the week due to a bruised foot. He should run well and I’ll be disappointed if he’s not at least placed. Thady represents a very patient Owners for Owners group and I hope will build on his latest appearance at Huntingdon. Uttoxeter should suit a big striding horse like him better as he found Huntingdon a little sharp. Andrew Tinkler partners him as usual.
