Martin’s Blog 6th February

A hard frost this morning but luckily our carpet gallop seems to thrive on all the elements wish to throw at it and it is riding as well as ever.

After a quiet weekend horse-wise with no runners, this morning has been a busy one with Ollie Ryan visiting and his team fitting our new yard kitchen and painting starting too. Stuart Baikie here this morning as well to see his horses on the gallops and for a catch up.

A camera crew from Great British Racing were here too interviewing some of us and filming the horses for a feature on ownership soon. They were good fun and we look forward to watching their piece on the yard which I’m sure GB Racing will be sharing on social media.

Horses moving around with a couple off home for a short winter break and a few in to start their spring/summer campaigns including a couple of newbies so it’s all systems go and Issy is busy in the lorry!

The rest of the horses are out in the field for the afternoon well wrapped up with plenty of rugs and, as it’s muddy, we use Snuggy Hoods to keep their faces, ears and necks warm and as clean as possible – something the team appreciate when they get them in later in the day! They are brilliant and we couldn’t be without them.

We had an enjoyable Saturday night at The Hollow Bottom celebrating owner Richard East’s 50th Birthday party and great to catch up with so many friends there. A fun time was had by all and I’m sure the dancers were the highlight for some!!
