What a run yesterday by Big Nasty in the bumper at Haydock making his debut for the Peel Racing Club headed by Will Kinsey to finish 3rd in heavy ground. A big imposing horse of over 18 hands high, he took it all in his stride under a lovely ride from Richard Johnson and just kept galloping eventually gaining 3rd and beating some pretty expensive purchases. Richard was delighted with him and actually wouldn’t count out running him in another bumper but we’ll have a chat with Will and the owners and see where we go – he’s all schooled up and ready to go jumping so we’ll have a look what’s around and decide. He’s A1 today.

A busy day with four runners at two different meetings. Cotswold Prince heads to Wincanton for the Junior bumper under Harry Stock for his second racecourse appearance. It’s a pretty hot race but he will have learnt from his racecourse debut where Harry struggled to pull him up and we hope he’ll run another solid race.

At Leicester we are double handed in the 2m 4f Maiden Hurdle with Reve and Pomme De Nuit. Tom Bellamy rides Reve and he ran a much improved race at Southwell last time to finish 2nd. He’s a horse we like a lot and we are hopeful of another good run from him. Pomme De Nuit will eventually want further but goes to Leicester for the better ground as she hated the heavy going at Lingfield last time. Conor Shoemark partners her again and she needs to show something to day as we’ve made excuses for her but she has been a little bit disappointing.

Finally at Leicester we have a runner for our Racing Club in Primogeniture who reverts to hurdles after an improved effort on the flat a week ago. He’s been largely disappointing over hurdles which is frustrating as he shows us so much at home but we are hoping he enjoyed his spin on the flat and will now show us more over hurdles.
