Martin’s Blog 6th August

No runners this weekend but an enjoyable one in glorious sunshine which is beginning to feel like the norm! On Saturday night we were at The Fox at Barrington for the surprise 50th of Gordon Clarkson who we met whilst working for The Duke in the Condicote days. A brilliant evening, fantastically planned by his wife Jemima and somehow kept secret from Gordie – the one person who normally knows everyone’s secrets – and a massive Duke’s reunion with many faces from the past and plenty of reminiscing.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Gatcombe Park, home of HRH The Princess Royal but this weekend host to The Festival of Eventing. The boys mainly interested in the Shetland Pony Grand National but much more than that to see in both the main arena and out on the impressive cross country course in the shadow of the house itself. A wonderful setting and we bumped into so many friends enjoying their weekend there.

Lots more horses in from the field today and we are getting pretty full and have such an exciting bunch of horses for the season ahead. A few lovely youngsters for sale too – shares available from 1/10th through 1/6th, 1/4 to a whole horse yourself – plenty of options and do get in touch if you’d like to get involved. Still a few places left in our Racing Club too which, for just £500 a year, gives so much value for your money and plenty of friendships to be made too.
