Martin’s Blog 5th September

One runner today as we head to Newton Abbot with Kalibrate in the bumper. A horse we bought as a foal and who disappointed badly on his racecourse debut in March. He returned with muscle damage that day and so had a decent holiday and we have done all we can to hopefully ensure that doesn’t happen again today. He’s a big imposing horse who has always been one of my favourites and has backed that up with some really decent work at home so I’d be really surprised, and hugely disappointing, if he didn’t enable us to put a thick line through that debut.

If we only have one runner at a meeting we often send a companion when we are unsure as to whether a horse will settle on it’s own and today’s companion is a horse I actually think Kalibrate looks similar too – our retired hero Champion Court who is now 17 years young. He will hopefully be sharing plenty of his own experience with Kalibrate on the trip down the M5 today as if Kalibrate gives us even half the fun that Champ did we’ll have some great times ahead. Good luck to all involved with him.
