Martin’s Blog 5th May

Another beautiful morning. We won’t get bored of saying that after the winter we’ve all endured! Every day in this wonderful part of the world is stunning but there is something especially beautiful about a sunny spring morning here whilst the mist disappears.

Work morning and Jo Stainer, Mark Allen and PJ Maher in to watch their horses work. Warren Marston, Tom Bellamy, Max Comley and Mark Caswell in to ride work. We worked Sporty Yankee, Lord Condi, Solstice Star, Dr Dunraven, Mr Mafia, Debden Bank, Cotswold Prince, Back on the Lash, Pomme De Nuit, Lady Vitesse, Matravers, Pirate Look, Sugar Storm, By Sulamani and Enforcement. All the rest cantered.

Our first two runners of the 2018/2019 season and they go to Uttoxeter. Young Phoenix runs in the first under Andrew Tinkler and was so unlucky last time when pecking badly at the last and looking sure to be placed. A repeat of that run today and I think he’ll have a big chance. Morning Herald is partnered by Harry Stock and the step up in trip and ground will suit her in a competitive race.

Meanwhile the family are off to Badminton Horse Trials with the boys possibly even more excited about watching the first race of the Shetland Pony Grand National series. Freddie is hoping to ride in some of their races throughout the season.
