Wet this morning but welcome rain. The horses had a lovely weekend with all those still in full training spending Saturday evening out in their paddocks which they loved and, as usual on a Sunday, they were out all day so nearly a full weekend out – we got some great shots of them chilling out and so relaxed.
I took the family to see Giffords Circus at Daylesford, an annual treat that we love and this year was no exception. Once again Tweedy the Clown was the star of the show and the boys absolutely love him. It’s on all around the Cotswolds all summer and I highly recommend it.
Busy today. Belinda is off to York to meet her fellow Charity Race riders and walk the course with Champion Flat Jockey Kevin Darley but managed to ride Buckle Street 1st lot and take the boys to school before heading north.
I’m heading south with Thady Quil and The Kvilleken. Thady has been frustrating but his run last time was an improvement and if we ever manage to get his head in front watch out for the celebrations! The Kvilleken is partnered by Harry Stock whose father Chris is in our Racing Club who own him. The rain may have got into the ground too much for him by the last race but he stays further than the rest so we may get away with it.
At Windsor tonight Tom Queally partners Jazzy. We are hoping for a solid run with him – he stays well and should handle the softening ground if they also get the forecast rain.
Last night Belinda and I had supper at The Wheatsheaf at Northleach with Jon and Jack Hughes and James Richardson who bred Viking Mistress and has kindly leased her to the Racing Club. We were celebrating her win at Worcester recently. Delicious food, fantastic company and a great night was had by all. And yes, Belinda passed on the starter, bread and pudding and was nominated driver drinking water all night! Less than 2 weeks till raceday!!!
