Martin’s Blog 5th December

Three runners at Market Rasen so an earlier than normal start to the day. Robsam is our first runner and makes his hurdling debut under Patrick Cowley. He needs to improve from his bumper runs but he wasn’t a bumper horse and gained plenty of experience in his two runs. He has done plenty of schooling at home and the step up in trip will undoubtedly help too.

World War runs in a competitive Conditional Jockey’s Hurdle, also partnered by Patrick Cowley, and needs to step up on what he has shown so far. He’s pleasing us at home and we are hopeful of a better run from him and the ground should suit.

Finally Dreamsundermyfeet runs in the bumper and, although his debut was in a hot bumper at Newbury, we were very disappointed that day as he’s a horse we like and we hoped for a more promising run. He’s still a big raw baby but he has strengthened up over the summer both mentally and physically and we are hopeful of more today.

Yesterday Brillare Momento and Be Thankful went to Jon Trice-Rolph’s yard to school over his show jumps, hurdles and tyres and both jumped very well. James Richardson came to watch Be Thankful and it was great to catch up with James.

Last night Sammy Martin, NAF’s Racing Specialist, kindly invited Belinda and myself to the NAF Horse & Hound Awards Evening at The Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse. It was a hugely fun evening so thanks to Sammy.
