Martin’s Blog 4th March

Welcome to our new website! We are so proud of it and hope you like it too. Huge thanks must go to Toby Elford who has worked tirelessly to make it happen and has been ably assisted by Jon Hughes and Paul Davis too – massive thanks to them all for working so hard to deliver something we are all delighted with. It seems quite a lot of you are too as we’ve had lots of positive feedback already.

No runners this weekend but the build up to the Cheltenham Festival continues and therefore it was no surprise to see many people in this morning to watch the horses on the gallops. Jo Stainer, one of the lucky owners of Any Currency, was in first lot to entertain us all and watch Woody put through his paces. A great article on him today by Julian Muscat in the Racing Post – however of all of Ed Whitaker’s awesome photos I have to admit they’ve not chosen one that is particularly kind to yours truly!
Richard Davies here second lot along with Mark Holland too watching their horses and Tilly Jarrett also in before going to support Gloucester Rugby where she’ll probably bump into Mark Caswell who rode out 1st lot before also heading to Kingsholm later. Other riders outers were Warren Marston, John Nicholson and Belinda gave Champion Court a spin too.

This afternoon Freddie, Harry and myself are back to support Cheltenham Town Football Club and are being wined and dined courtesy of Richard East and Mark Cuzner. The boys are hoping that Danny Wright will play this afternoon – fingers crossed.

Tonight if you are in Cheltenham head to The Lansdown where our sponsor Ross Hemming plays in his band, The Fabulous Groove Garden, in a charity event in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Tickets £15 and it starts at 8pm.

Tomorrow night do head for Aquavitae, also in Cheltenham, next to The 21 Club where I am on a Panel for the Cheltenham Preview evening there. Some great prizes in the auction during the night, no food however plenty of drink available and, as well as a lot of fun and hopefully providing you with plenty of Cheltenham winners, you will be helping raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Belinda and Alex Steedman join 10 other riders at York Racecourse in June and the proceeds tomorrow night go towards their race fundraising. A worthwhile cause and tickets available on the door so just turn up.
