Saturdays are generally busy here 12 months of the year and today was no exception! Not many horses doing fast work at the moment but always plenty to see but no need for extra jockeys in this morning.
Mark Allen & Kate Docker were in to watch Bay Dude on the gallops along with Chris & Helen Gerring who were involved with Bay Dude’s mother, Sky Calling. It was fabulous to see Chris & Helen back here – I can’t remember the last time they visited and we hope they will come and see us again soon. We met Chris & Helen through their niece Merete Hass, who was here on Veterinary Work Experience about 10 years ago and who encouraged them to get involved in Sky Calling and they had so much fun with her. Merete is now a fully trained vet and was the vet on duty earlier in the year at Haydock when Freddie rode his first Pony Racing winner – a day we’ll never forget.
Also visiting this morning was Simon and Kath Prowting who always ensure that the entertainment level is high! They were here to watch their winning bumper horse Raving Bonkers and to have a catch up with the team. They also kindly treated Belinda, myself and the boys to lunch at The Fox at Broadwell and a fun time was had by all.
A rare Sunday with no runners tomorrow. A few owners to catch up with first thing and then a day in the grounds of another owner as we plan a family day out to Gatcombe Park where HRH The Princess Royal and her family host the Festival of British Eventing. Always plenty to do there and I highly recommend it if you are at a loose end tomorrow.
A surprise 50th Birthday party tonight ….
