Martin’s Blog 4th April

Southwell passed its Inspection today and therefore we have two runners there. Hot Goddess has her second start and is in the Mares’ bumper in the middle of the card for sisters Jane & Rosemary. They have generously allowed Freddie to have his first ride as an Amateur Jockey on her as the race is a rare one restricted to Amateur and Conditional jockeys. She’s the outsider of the field but will hopefully run better than her odds suggest however whatever happens they will both hopefully learn lots from the experience.

Harry Atkins partners Bobbi’s Beauty and taking 7lbs off her back which should help in this heavy ground. She reverts to hurdles after jumping fences the last twice – she was foot perfect on her winning chasing debut but didn’t jump as well last time so this will hopefully be a confidence boost. Harry has ridden plenty of winners lately so is riding with plenty of confidence. Good luck to owners Ollie Ryan, Hugh Leman and Jim White.

Tomorrow Wide To West will hopefully head to Wetherby if it passes it’s inspection today and Sean Bowen will partner him. Meanwhile our Amateur Louise Chance will partner Breizh Alko tomorrow at Fontwell so an exciting day for her too.

The rain will not stop here at the yard and I don’t think we have ever had it as wet as it is now. When will it stop?!
