Martin’s Blog 3rd October

A schooling and fast work morning with Sean Bowen in this morning and we schooled Shinji, Mr Mafia, Pinnacle Peak, Prairie Diamond, Myfanwy’s Magic, Wide To West and Another Day Out. Nigel McAllen was in too.

We worked Back on the Lash, Zestful, Bobbi’s Beauty, Samtara, Spice Boy, Kalibrate, Release The Kraken, Enforcement, Witness Protection, Massima Bella, Osterberg, Rolling Clouds and Kauto Castillo. All the rest did a swinging canter or just cantered.

Southwell today with two runners now as Dreamsundermyfeet doesn’t run. David Maughan’s Redbridge Rambler runs in the 2 1/2 mile handicap hurdle under Sean Bowen. He needed the run more than we thought he would last time at Stratford and he will strip fitter today. He’s a horse we’ve always thought a bit of and he’ll hopefully go close today.

In the concluding Conditional Jockeys’ 3m Handicap Hurdle Harry Atkins partners Blazing Court for David Maughan, David Parry, Phil James & Mary and John Thackray. He’s a lovely looking horse who has taken a while to come to hand and needed patience but the penny is beginning to drop and it was a very good run last time. A repeat of that form on this step up in trip should see him run another solid race today.
