An early start to watch a couple of horses on the gallops at 6am before I headed off to walk the course at Towcester to see if it was suitable for Somewhere To Be to be declared for tomorrow. They were watering when I arrived and had rain showers forecast today which I hope they have. It was in good condition but fast enough. Back to the office before declarations closed and after discussion with owner Zara Tindall, fresh from a fantastic 3rd in Kentucky at the weekend, and we’ve declared him. I’ll have another good walk around tomorrow before I make the final decision.
No visitors today and it is quieter days in the office that we are already missing dear Patrick Spittle who used to come and bring carrots for The Kvilleken and then sit and chat to sometimes me but often Belinda for a few hours whilst she worked. Everyone was so fond of Patrick. If you’d like details of his funeral next week then please get in touch. We’ll give him the good send off he deserves.
Fantastic to hear that Woody has already settled in to his new home. He’ll have a nice break before starting his new life as a Team Chaser. Great also to hear from Miranda Theobald about Always Bold who continues to win most things they try – Dressage and Showing winners this weekend and heading to the ROR Finals at Aintree in August and looking like they will be busy all week. Miranda leaves no stone unturned and is a real perfectionist and Always Bold is very lucky to be looked after by her.
