A new month and let’s hope things start to dry out from now on although I fear more rain is probably just around the corner.
We worked a few this morning including Black Panther, Capital Force, Mozzaro, Kazontherazz with the rest doing strong canters or just cantering.
With Freddie having a rare birthday this last weekend – he’s a Leap Day boy, we had a weekend away in London (nearly as rare as a Leap year!). Huge thanks to Mario Stavrou who kindly put us up in his lovely hotel – we packed a lot in. On Saturday morning we went to Hyde Park Barracks to see the Household Cavalry along with some of Freddie’s shetland and pony racing friends. They couldn’t have been more generous with their time and it was fascinating to not only see the 10am Inspection of the Queens Life Guard but to also see behind the scenes and in doing so learn how to properly clean tack and equipment. We were blown away by the hours they work and the dedication to their job – their time off each month is marked in hours not days! A fabulous treat.
Then the evening we saw The Lion King which was, as so many people had already told us, fabulous and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. A really fun weekend.
Big Nasty ran at Doncaster on Friday but made an awful mistake in the water jump put paid to his chances and Sean Quinlan pulled him up. It’s pulled him about a bit but he’ll have plenty of TLC and we’ll get him back out again when he’s ready. No runners today but we head to Lingfield on the flat tomorrow with Black Prince.
