Martin’s Blog 3rd June

We are enjoying this warm weather but we also need a bit more rain for some of the horses that are having their last runs before their summer holidays to have a run.

A quiet morning with the horses just cantering on our loop gallop this morning. A visit from Sarah, Leigh and Lara to see Fiddledi Dee and Lara had a ride on Freddie’s shetland pony Blackie too. Lovely to see them all and a perfect morning for them to come.

Two runners at two different parts of the country today. Enforcement heads to Uttoxeter for the Happy Birthday Nigel Kirby Handicap Chase – so a huge happy birthday to Photographer Nigel Kirby and let’s hope Enforcement runs a blinder for our Racing Club under Sam Twiston-Davies. You can never quite second guess him but with lots of the fancied runners now non-runners he’s got as good a chance as he ever will have to get his head in front!

At Ffos Las Pay The Woman makes her debut for us and Foxtrot Racing under James Best. She was found by Gerry Hogan in Ireland and he’s sure she is better than her form suggests. She’s settled in well, looks a picture and we’ll obviously know more about her after her hurdles debut today. She’s the replacement for Solstice Star so if she only gives us half as much fun as he has done then she’ll be doing her job well.
