A bit of rain about but barely enough to wet the ground – everywhere is brown around here and we desperately need rain. Most of the holiday horses are now back in training so the team sitting tight on some of them! Great to have some of the more familiar faces with their heads back over the door.
Paul Davis in this morning to watch Spice Boy and Ballyvango being ridden for the first time since they returned yesterday from Martin Jones who had them to get them going again and does such a brilliant job. They are three years old and went to Martin’s as 2 year olds and then had another year out before going back to him for a month or so to continue their education. Paul runs our in-house syndicates and is fabulous at keeping the syndicate members up to date with both videos and plenty of written communication too via emails and WhatsApp too. So important to keep everyone updated with details of the horses they have an interest in because racehorse ownership is as much about the whole journey than it is about simply the raceday. Owners seem to enjoy all the behind the scenes photos and videos too and when I compile a video of the horses in training either schooling over obstacles or doing fast work on the gallops I share with all the groups involved with us so owners get to watch behind the scenes for all the horses here.
On Monday I took Belinda and the boys to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and we watched the Beach Volleyball! It was men’s as well as women’s so we were all happy! The atmosphere was fantastic and I’m really glad we went despite not really knowing the rules!!
