April already and although no runners so far this week it’s been a busy few days and always so much to do at the yard.
This morning Chris Massey and friends were in to watch Jeans Genie work up the gallops ahead of her racecourse debut in a few weeks. Alice rides her every day and thinks the world of her and she worked well today with Somewhere To Be. We also worked Matravers, Primogeniture, Cloud Formation, Acacia Dream, Fairmount, Reve, World War, Brillare Momento, Capital Force, Capricia, Big Nasty and Raving Bonkers.
Third lot Mike & Mella Wright and Jon Hughes were in to watch their horses on the gallops and it was great to catch up with them. They went on to see Max Comley and their Saturday Horseheath Maiden Point to Point winner Twentyoneblackjack – Max’s first winner as a Trainer.
Yesterday Kieran O’Hare, who left us last month after working here for four years to pursue other things, returned on a day off to ride his two favourite horses Solstice Star and Enforcement. It’s always good to have old members of the team back in to ride out when they can and Kieran was pleased to be back on his two favourite rides.
Hannah Ashton in this morning to check and treat those horses needing a bit of physio and Nick Partridge, our Farrier, in too. Jeremy Swan, our vet, was in as well and our three lovely yearlings are now Geldings! I don’t think that was the reason that Chris Massey and co didn’t stay around long after third lot!!!
