Martin’s Blog 30th September

A busy few days with plenty going on and although we’ve had no runners we’ve had visits from owners John Gent, Jo Stainer, Richard Davies and Jon Hughes and they’ve enjoyed watching their horses working and on the gallops too.

This morning was busy too with owners James Gibbs, Ollie & Irene Ryan and their friends all in to watch the horses working up the grass gallops. Warren Marston, John Nicholson and Max Comley all in to ride out and I couldn’t be happier with the stage the horses are currently at. Electrician Paul Hughes and assistant Luke in this morning too and great to hear about all the celebrities Paul is rubbing shoulders with these days courtesy of his son Chris who is living the dream having made such a success following his appearance on reality tv show Love Island!

Off to Market Rasen with two runners today. Ask Alice makes her debut over hurdles and needs to learn to settle so we’ll hope she switches off as she’s been plenty keen enough in her bumper runs and not helped herself. She’s done plenty of schooling and now runs in the Martin Keighley Racing Club colours having been leased by breeder Sarah Turner to the Club.

Lord Condi makes his debut in the concluding bumper and is a horse I think a lot of. He’s done everything well at home and looks a lovely individual and is owned by a super group of people. It’s competitive enough today but I’m happy with him and am hopeful he’ll enjoy his racecourse debut and run an encouraging race. Always a big occasion for youngsters to have their racecourse debuts but we’ll know much more about him at 5.50pm tonight!
