We are at Market Rasen this afternoon with Found On making her seasonal debut for Oliver & Irene Ryan. She’s never been one to carry much weight but has had a great summer holiday away at David Bridgwater’s Stow on the Wold base as he had too much grass and she has benefitted so much from it and looks fabulous. However, that does mean that she has taken more getting fit this time and therefore might need the run a little although she always does plenty at home. Sean Bowen rides and knows her so well.
Yesterday Herecomeshogan (James Best) ran well for a long way over fences at Worcester but the ground was softer than ideal and finally told in the closing stages. Great to get a clear round over fences for him though and a huge confidence builder.
On Thursday night sisters Jane Berry & Rosemary Peel-Yates (who were in that morning to watch their horses on the gallops) took us to Da Luigis in Chipping Campden and we had a really fun evening. Delicious food and hilarious company!
Roger & Rosemary Sollis were in yesterday to watch the horses on the gallops and Rich Lloyd and Barry Jessup and family were in to watch the horses this morning as well as Paul Miller to watch Myfanwy’s Magic. Adrian Grimmit was in on Thursday to see the lovely youngster that Richard Johnson bred, surprisingly nicknamed ‘Dickie’ (!), on the gallops. He’s only been here a week but has settled in very professionally and is really pleasing us.
We have a runner at Ffos Las tomorrow when our smallest member of the team, Miss Millfield, heads there for the 148cm pony race with Freddie, of course. It’s there third last run and after then they head to Chepstow in mid October and then to Aintree for the Final at the end of October. Exciting/nerve wracking times!
