A quiet time with no runners since Windy Cove’s super win at Warwick last Wednesday evening but plenty of horses still in and, in fact, some having had their holiday already are due back in to re-start later this week. Lots of painting, pressure washing and strimming to be done too. Today was busy too with physio Maggie Turner and farrier Nick Partridge in as usual on a Monday.
Yesterday was our 2nd organised Fun Ride – this time a Platinum Jubilee Fun Ride and nearly 100 combinations of horse and rider enjoyed our stunning scenery, optional fences and, as a treat, a free whizz up our fabulous carpet gallop at the end. So many smiley faces and fabulous feedback – a superb time was had by all. Our Fun Ride is open to book daily, after the horses have finished exercising of course, and can be booked with our without gallop use. So many people loved the opportunity to have a safe spin up the gallops and so many have promised to be back – it’s really taken off and it’s a great way to supplement the income that we receive through purely training the horses – of which we all know is a bit of a juggling act, especially in these quieter summer months, often to simply break even. Big smiles all round then!
The boys are on half term this week and it was Harry’s turn for a Football Presentation and Picnic on Saturday in Broadway. His U12 Team have finished 2nd in Pool A Evesham League this season and they can’t wait to try and beat that next season. For now a couple of footie match free months – but plenty of time to practice in the garden!
Today was one of our favourite annual family trips – to Giffords Circus, their final day at Sudeley Castle near Winchcombe. Carpa! – we think is one of their very best, we laughed so much although for a few minutes the laughs were on me as Belinda volunteered me to go into the middle with three other poor souls to ride wooden horses with Tweedy!! I’ll get her back that is for sure!!
