Martin’s Blog 30th December

One runner today – Dr Dunraven at Taunton under Harry Stock in the Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle over 2m 4f. He’s not run since he was a very encouraging 2nd for us at Uttoxeter in May due to one niggly problem or another. He’s a lovely horse who is lucky enough to have very patient owners and Foxy here has worked hard on him too. A worry would be whether he acts on the soft ground especially with it being the last race of the day however I’d hope he has a solid each way chance.

Work morning and Andrew Tinkler, Warren Marston and Max Comley all in to ride out. We worked Madame Fiona, Cul De Poule, Lord Condi, Brillare Momento, Weyburn, Sporty Yankee, Hartshorne Abbie, Young Phoenix and the rest did swinging canters or just cantered.

The snow and ice have finally gone although still pretty cold however the forecasters have promised it will warm up over the weekend. A delivery of shavings and haylage from RSN Stow courtesy of Ollie Garner this morning. Nick Partridge, our farrier, in to check the shoes on the intended runners. A quiet morning with no visitors for a rare change.
