Martin’s Blog 30th December

We’ve had a lovely Christmas and, with Leicester abandoned earlier in the week (where Ben Buie was a hot favourite – frustrating!) we’ve not had a runner at all so have tried to have some family time. Christmas morning was great fun with the team dressing up to ride out and then I’d made canapes for us all to enjoy along with the fizz provided by Mark & Elouise Boothright who also joined us outside by our camp fire. The team then made their way to their own families for the rest of the day, many for the rest of the weekend and Jasmin, from Cornwall, took an additional day off so had a lovely long weekend. Our family did evening stables which is always entertaining after Christmas lunch but also good to get outside for a bit.

We’ve had various extra rider outers in this week with James Best, Sean Bowen, Harriet Tucker, Finn Lambert and Ben Godfrey all in to ride work or school although it’s been pretty miserable and wet all week.

Taunton today with Matthew Baker’s Brianna Rose who won well last time. She’s in a race restricted to Conditional Jockeys and is partnered by Finn Lambert who takes 5lbs off her back and who was in to ride her out and school her over hurdles yesterday. Hopefully she’ll run another solid race and it would be great if she could finish our year in the perfect way – good luck Bri!
