Martin’s Blog 2nd September

An autumnal morning – a chill in the air but with the sun coming up it was particularly stunning.

The horses did their fast work yesterday so today they made use of our new and widened all weather loop. Owners Keith, Jan and Nicky Salisbury in to watch the horses and Cotswold Prince in particular as well as the Racing Club’s horses Viking Mistress and The Kvilleken.

Sponsor Ross Hemming here with son Crue to watch Ballymountain Boy in action and admire the newly waxed loop surface which he helped finish yesterday. 3rd Lot Neville and Pam Statham were here with daughter Bella and her son Paddy. Paddy had a ride on Harry’s pony Arthur around the loop and then had his photo taken with two of the Statham’s three horses with us Weyburn and Young Phoenix. A great photo for the family album.

They then headed off to Moreton Show where we sponsor one of the Retrained Racehorse classes. Belinda’s dad was heavily involved in Moreton Show for many years and there is a trophy in his memory for the winner of the Vintage Tractors, a part of the show that he organised and was very dear to his heart. Always a wonderful day out for the whole family and so much to see and do.

We’ve got a family gathering later of Belinda’s aunts, uncles and cousins – a rare chance to get so many of us togehter which should be fun.
