Martin’s Blog 2nd July

We head to Uttoxeter this afternoon with Ambassador for our Racing Club under our Conditional Jockey Harry Atkins. It’s a competitive race but Harry’s allowance is always handy and he gets on well with him too. He’ll not lack in support if he’s in with a shout – he’s not been the easiest to win with and we’ll be thrilled if he’s placed this afternoon.

Yesterday Katie Frisby was in to watch Culverwell work on the gallops and then she gave him a salt treatment too which he thoroughly enjoys. Paul Davis and David Maughan were also in and we worked Ten Past Midnight, Bella Ciao, Brianna Rose, Miladygrace, Mr Mafia, Ben Buie, Blazing Court, Kazontherazz and Forecast.

We went out for supper in the week with Alan & Anna Varey and we tried The Fox at Broadwell for the first time since they have been taken over recently. We used to go there a lot when Ed & Dom Simpson were landlords and it’s such a lovely pub and local too. We had a lovely evening with brilliant company and the food was absolutely delicious. Don’t just take our word for it though…Prue Leith was on a nearby table and she is apparently a huge fan too! Well worth a visit.
