Martin’s Blog 2nd July

Summer has continued and the yard is noisy with lots more horses coming back into work yesterday from their holidays. Foxy, my Assistant, is back from a few weeks off too so we are all set to crack on towards the Autumn dare I say (when Summer hasn’t properly started yet!).

Thank you all for so many kind messages after Harry Stock & Raving Bonkers’ horrible fall on Sunday at Uttoxeter. It looked as if they were brought down from behind on the flat on the home bend and had done nothing wrong so it was very unfair indeed. Thankfully they both live to fight another day despite both having fractured ribs. We are hopeful that the bad run of luck for both horse and rider will end soon – they both deserve a change of luck that is for sure and so do RB’s patient owners. A huge relief to be driving Harry home from the hospital that night. Raving Bonkers is sore but walking wounded.

David Bishop was in this morning to watch Bobble Emerald on the gallops and have a catch up too. We’ve got a vet student with us for a fortnight too – Becky Gill-Parsons, and she is a useful extra pair of hands and is hopefully learning lots too.

It’s Racing Staff Week and we were thrilled that David Baxter did a lovely article on our very own Jasmin Richards which you can read HERE. She is getting very excited and a little bit nervous about her race on Friday at Newton Abbot. You can still sponsor her HERE.
