We had no runners over the weekend so I went to The Game Fair yesterday to cheer on Freddie and his pony in the Shetland Pony Grand National. I was even asked to present the prizes in the morning which was great as Freddie finished a good 3rd in the Final and was thrilled. The children have as much fun off their ponies as on them and I’m sure they will be making lifetime friends doing it – wish it was around when we were kids!
Sunshine has returned today after a rainy weekend although tomorrow’s forecast looks wet again. Flysheets will be replaced with waterproof turnouts tomorrow!
Monday’s are always a hive of activity here with the farrier and physio in and Belinda’s brother Peter here mending the tractor and anything else we can find him to do! Our Yardman Lucjan is on holiday and we miss his mending skills!
James Best was in this morning and, along with Harry Stock, we schooled, Cut & Run, Cotswold Prince, Lord Condi, Witness Protection, Chequered View and Enforcement on our all weather loop and they all jumped well.
Jo Stainer was here watching the horses work on Saturday morning whilst celebrating his birthday too. Jo has been with us from the very start and we trained winners for him in the point to point field before I got my professional licence out and Belinda rode a few winners for him too. He’s a very special part of our team and we look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with him.
