Martin’s Blog 29th January

The yard is still buzzing following our Cheltenham winner on Saturday and it was great to see Mark Boothright & Elouise call in on their way back to the Airport on Monday. They brought much deserved carrots for Back on the Lash and the friends he was turned out with and, along with his other two owners – Graham Lovett and Peter Deffains, we are planning his next run. We won’t rush though as he goes best when fresh, as we saw on Saturday, and the Handicapper was very impressed too putting him up 10lbs yesterday so lots to ponder.

With Hereford abandoned (Zara Tindall’s mare Run A Rig was heading there) we are just at one meeting today and it’s an Evening Meeting at Kempton Park. Black Prince makes his long awaited return and his stable debut for us – he’s not run since September 2018. We’ve booked the services of Tom Queally and, although he has won on the flat before, he’ll no doubt improve for his run today. There will be some very excited members of his Partnership just to see him get to the track – and some also can’t wait to meet Frankel’s jockey! Whilst we all love winning, the joy of ownership is much more than that and we have a fantastic group of people involved with Black Prince and I hope he gives them some fun this year on the flat and over hurdles too. Good luck BP!
