Yesterday was a gloriously sunny bank holiday for a change! We had no runners so it was a day of catching up on various jobs around the yard and on admin too – there are always things to do. Although it seems as if the boys have been on holiday forever however on the other hand I can’t believe that they go back to school next week. I always think it marks the end of the summer and not long until the first Cheltenham Meeting.
Work morning and Richard East and Lucinda Hawkings-Byass were here to watch Solstice Star (Warren) work with Ballymountain Boy (Belinda). Andrew Tinkler also in and we worked Enforcement, Miss Condi, Cotswold Prince, Lord Condi, Young Phoenix, Bobble Emerald, Chequered View and Brass Monkey.
Physio Hannah Ashton in to massage two of the horses. Nick Partridge, our Farrier, also in this morning. He passed on the ‘phone with no home’ from BBC Radio Gloucestershire on Thursday resulting in Belinda being interviewed live on air on Friday. She passed it to Val Hughes, Racing Club member and wife of our electrician Paul and we listened to Val live this morning and she did a great job. The Presenter was excited to learn that one of her five sons was on Love Island and was keen to get Val and Chris into the Studio sometime!
We are delighted to hear that Charlie Dee, who was here as Pupil Assistant four years ago, has joined Lillingston Bloodstock as assistant to Luke Lillingston. Charlie rode his first point to point winners on Creepy who won a Grade 2 hurdle for us at Cheltenham whilst Charlie was working here and is thriving in his new life with the Dee’s.
