Martin’s Blog 29th August

A busy few days with visitors and a few meetings here too. We had a meeting with Robert Wharton, our Landlord, and Chairman Jon Hughes too – plenty of planning for the future – exciting times and thankful to have Robert’s support.

We worked lots of horses yesterday so a quiet morning today with horses just having one or two canters.

Kay Scriven, from Spillers, our horse feed, here this afternoon for a catch up and to make sure everything is okay. She regularly tests our haylage and took some straw samples too as we’d ideally love the horses to be on straw if possible as it is the most natural bedding. Ollie Garner and Steve Adams from RSN supply us with our bedding and look after us very well.

Just one runner tonight at Worcester – Enforcement runs in the Juvenile Hurdle and has been more than a little bit disappointing. He shows a lot at home and jumps well too so maybe it has just taken longer for him to learn to race than we’d originally hoped as we hoped he’d be an early sort who would be competitive over the summer. Hoping for an improved effort tonight and Andrew Tinkler rides.
