Martin’s Blog 28th October

We enjoyed a fantastic Curry night in our Owners’ Room with our team cooked fantastically by Dan, who also lives at Luckley, and it was delicious. It was great to get the team together again socially as they all work so hard. We all toasted Ten Past Midnight’s recent win too thanks to champagne generously supplied by The Seredipity Syndicate – a brilliant night.

A fun night was had by all

Today we are off to Ffos Las with just one runner but one I’m very much looking forward to – Pay The Woman owned by Foxtrot Racing Syndicate. She arrived from Ireland having finished 16th of 17 in her hurdle race but seemed to enjoy being with us as she promptly won her two starts, the first one at 40-1! Both wins were part of a double so we may have missed a trick not running something else today!

She makes her chasing debut and has done plenty of schooling at home and has done very well over the summer too. She’s built up and looks every inch a chaser and she should enjoy the ground too. Her first hurdle win was at Ffos Las so she likes the course and if she takes to fences I hope she will go very close today.

Pay The Woman after her Worcester success

Mahanakhon Power was very novicey yesterday at Taunton on his hurdling debut but Sean Bowen said he will improve massively for the experience – as is so often with horses off the flat, as soon as he gets the hang of it there is a lot of improvement to come. Even though we have 7 flights of hurdles at home, nothing quite compares to racecourse experience and you never quite know how they will take to it. He’s A1 this morning.
