Martin’s Blog 28th November

Southwell today with two runners as the heavy rain they received yesterday meant that I had no choice but to pull out both Enforcement and She Has Notions as they need a sounder surface. Foxtrot Racing’s Rolling Clouds is partnered by James Best and runs in the 3m Handicap Chase. He seems in good form at home but hasn’t shown us as much as we’d like on the track yet so has cheekpieces fitted today in the hope that they will help him.

Massima Bella has Harry Atkin’s 10lbs to assist her in the Bumper and we are hopeful she will show us more than she did on her debut at Ludlow in May. Despite now being down to just 5 runners it is still pretty competitive and she is by far the outsider of the field but she needs a run and these bumpers are often a stepping stone to better things. She does go nicely at home but hurdles will probably be the making of her.

Yesterday was wet at Ludlow – it looked wet on the tv anyway as I had a rare day at home feeling dreadful but I’ve picked up a bit today thankfully. Still work to do at home but couldn’t face the trip to Ludlow. Prairie Diamond didn’t appreciate the softer going and Release The Kraken blew the cobwebs away and he’ll strip fitter next time.
