We were unlucky at Huntingdon on Boxing Day when Lerichi Belle bumped into a very well handicapped horse but she still ran a very good race to finish 2nd. Lady Vitesse was pretty lit up in the preliminaries and needs to learn to settle but we’ll see improvement when she goes hurdling I’m sure.
Snow arrived, as forecast, overnight into yesterday and the team did another fantastic job to get in. Harry Stock had problems getting here and failed in his car then had to be rescued on his quad but eventually got in. Parts of the area had a huge amount of snow. We’ve not had as much as a few weeks ago but enough to go sledging yesterday with the boys after the racing at Chepstow was called off. My carpet loop gallop has once again been worth it’s weight as we haven’t been held up with the horses and have had a few local trainers come and use it too.
Two today at Catterick which survived an 8am inspection thankfully as Issy, Harry and the horses were already on the road. Cup of Ambition makes his debut for the Martin Keighley Racing Club and will need to brush up on his jumping last time out to figure today. Hopefully he will be able to build on that and has the ability when it all falls into place.
Cottersrock runs in the 3m 1f Handicap Chase and drops down in grade today. It’s still a competitive race but I’m hopeful of a bold show from him too.
