Martin’s Blog 28th April

Two runners at a very wet Towcester last night – both in the same race. Cut and Run was disappointing but Primogeniture ran a decent race for the Martin Keighley Racing Club to finish 3rd albeit beaten a long way. Those hardy club members that attended were rewarded with each-way money thanks to a faller at the last as he was booked for 4th place. Both horses are fine this morning.

Yesterday morning was a busy one. We are keen to have far more communication with our key suppliers and are therefore meeting with them over the next few weeks to see how we can all work even more effectively together. Yesterday Ollie Garner and Steve Adams from RSN Services called in – they supply us with our haylage and our bedding too so are very important to the well-being of the horses. We also met with our Vet, Jeremy Swan, at Bourton Vale Equine Clinic, to ensure that between us we are doing the best we possibly can for our horses and our owners. Two very worthwhile meetings and we feel it is so important that we are going in the same direction.

This morning Zofia Trembecka-Ross brought her family to watch Sugar Storm work over a mile and a quarter on the grass and it was great to see them all. Zofia is thrilled with how she is looking and we have a couple of races in mind and look forward to getting her out on hopefully some decent ground….when it stops raining!

Warren Marston, Tom Bellamy and John Nicholson were also in and we also worked Enforcement, By Sulanami, Cotswold Prince, Solstice Star, Hartshorne Abbie, Matravers, Reve, Pirate Look, Back on the Lash, Mr Mafia, Sporty Yankee, Weyburn, Lord Condi, Morning Herald, Lerichi Belle, Peeping Penny, Ask Alice, Debden Ban and Lady Vitesse.

No runners today but some great racing at Sandown Park and thrilled to see Richard Johnson crowned Champion Jump Jockey for the third time – much deserved and the best Ambassador for our sport we could have. Well done Dickie!
