Uttoxeter yesterday and Ten Past Midnight ran a blinder to finish 2nd to a horse he beat well last time but who’d not had luck in running on that occasion and was carrying nearly a stone less than us. He jumped well and is giving his owner/breeder Michael Chitty and The Serendipity Syndicate lots of fun.
Duke of Luckley was never going which was quite probably due to a combination of a young horse being on the go a long time plus missing his last few opportunities at the last minute due to going / the abandoned fixture at Uttoxeter etc. where he’s been primed to run and then not run. He trotted up sound this morning and seems none the worse for his race. He deserves a holiday now.
Today we head to Southwell with two runners. Brianna Rose is our first runner for Matthew Baker and has Sean Bowen in the saddle. She’s in really good form but the favourite will be hard to beat as he was impressive last time. She runs well at Southwell though so the track and ground should suit.
Debden Bank was in the chase and the hurdle but with fewer runners we opted for the hurdle. The brush hurdles at Southwell jump well and he has James Best back in the saddle who returned from injury recently. James gets on really well with Debden and he has had wind surgery since his last run so although it is pretty competitive, he’ll hopefully give a good account of himself.
Summer starts today with the boys breaking up today so they are excited.
