David Maughan’s Redbridge Rambler ran a blinder yesterday to finish 2nd at Hereford in the bumper under Harry Atkins and he’ll now have a bit of a holiday before going over hurdles where he’ll be better over further. Usually we hate 2nd placings but it was a solid race and he ran through the line and Harry struggled to pull him up which is always a good sign.

He was our only runner yesterday and I couldn’t be there as Freddie & I were fortunate enough to get tickets to the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley where Freddie’s beloved Manchester United beat Newcastle 2-0 and we had a brilliant time. Thank to Phil Eaton it was a day we’ll never forget and a super early birthday present for our Leap Day birthday boy who celebrates his birthday on 28th February on a non-leap year. We met with Matt and Shona Capp en route and had an enjoyable lunch with them, leaving our car at their house and jumping on the tube. Yes, with Freddie’s help, we arrived safely!

Not to be outdone, Harry & Belinda had a lovely day but on Saturday thanks to the generosity of Harry Redknapp who they met up with and took them to the Bournemouth/Manchester City game as Harry K is a huge City fan and Harry R lives 10 minutes from the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth. Harry K was incredibly happy with the 4-1 result and they had a great night.

Going back to school today will be a huge anti climax! Very fortunate boys.
Monday morning and rain – hallelujah! We need more …. but not too much on Cheltenham’s Cross Country course – that can stay at genuine good ground for Back On The Lash please!
