A busy few days gearing up to Cheltenham’s first meeting of the season the next couple of days. We worked the horses yesterday and I am pleased with where they are at this stage of the season.
Today was a schooling day and Andrew Tinkler was in too before rushing off to ride at Carlisle later today. We schooled Thady Quil, Somewhere To Be, Lerichi Belle and Cup of Ambition over fences and Weyburn, Whatalove over hurdles and was pleased with how they schooled. Lesley Sutton and her sister were here to watch first and second lot before going down to see Champion Court out in the field at Condicote. He’s coming back in this week and will be returning to his role as schoolmaster for the young horses and riders too.
We then went on to Jon Trice-Rolph’s to take some youngsters schooling over his show jumps and hurdles in the outdoor arena and tyres and logs in the field. These were Twentyoneblackjack (Harry), Madame Fiona (Ash), Chequered View (Harley) and Pomme De Nuit (Alfie). The horses learn so much and so do the jockeys under instruction from Jon and it is always something I find a very worthwhile exercise.
After riding Buckle Street Belinda had a busy but productive morning with our Chairman Jon Hughes and Bookkeeper Carole Arnold who are helping run the show! So much planning to do and exciting times ahead for sure and well worth all the hard work.
A certain buzz around the place ahead of Cheltenham tomorrow where we have five runners after a busy morning on the gallops here. More about those runners tomorrow. No doubt we’ll be seeing plenty of you tomorrow too.
