A scorcher of a weekend. No runners yesterday but Bangor on Saturday was pretty hot and ‘Ladies’ day too! We missed the bad traffic on the way but the lorry with Molly & Freddie didn’t and was delayed an hour which wasn’t ideal but eventually got there safely. Bangor do make such a great effort to look after their owners and are rewarded with plenty of support.
Steven & Helen Sugden’s Yes Indeed ran another solid race to finish 3rd under a good ride from James Best just finding the pace a bit too quick on the better ground. He’s such an honest horse and did well to battle back for 3rd when looking booked for 5th at best. Surely he’ll be back in the Winners’ Enclosure very soon. Maybellino was a handful to say the least in the preliminaries and Molly did very well – May was dragging us both about! She travelled well for the first mile and then found the whole experience too much for her…decisions to be made on her future. So disappointed for owner/breeder Roger Allsop who has been such a massive supporter of the game for so many years.
Today we head to Huntingdon with Another Day Out back over hurdles after a nasty fall last time over fences. Freddie is in the saddle today taking 5lbs off her back. It’s a small field but still competitive and we are hopeful of a massive run. Good luck to Richard Lloyd, Paul Proctor and Barry Jessup.
Tonight we have a Team BBQ so I’ll be shooting back to fire up the BBQ – a well deserved get together for our fabulous team.
