Martin’s Blog – 25th June

Summer has arrived and we are off to one of our favourite seaside feel courses today – Newton Abbot! It’s a busy one with four runners with two of them being in the first race. It’s a race for Amateur Jockeys and we run Herecomeshogan for the Cotswold Lockdowners, who will be partnered by Louise Chance and Shinji for Matt Capp, Leigh Powell, Paul Newman and Michael Day who will be partnered by Freddie Keighley. Hogan is returning from a break but seems fresh & well and is back down to a competitive mark and if Shinji puts in a similar performance to his win last time out he should be thereabouts too.

Postponed Legacy makes his hurdling debut under James Best and was very green last time out on his racecourse debut on the flat. He’s done plenty of schooling at home but is still learning and will no doubt come on for today’s experience but should be far more competitive over hurdles. Ben Buie is re-united with Sean Bowen who has been on board for 4 of his 7 wins with Sam Twiston-Davies on board for the other 3. Ben will strip fitter for his seasonal debut and should enjoy the ground too so I am expecting a decent run from him.

Good luck to all their connections.
